Future Books

After the release of my book, Motorcyclist’s Guide To Travel, I almost immediately began receiving emails inquiring whether I was planning to write a book about my adventures and travels. To be honest, at the time I was already working on my second book but it was not about my motorcycle trips. While I don’t want to get into specifics about what that book is about because I do still plan on releasing it hopefully later this year, it’s much more in line with my first book as it too is a guide/instructiom- type book.

So why not write a book about my travel stories?
Truth is, I as planning on writing about my travels but instead of putting them in a book, I was going to publish them here on the website. (You can still find some of my travel stories from back in 2014 if you dig around on the site a bit.) While I love filming, editing and posting my travel videos on my YouTube channel, some parts of the story can’t be told in the videos. Sometimes things are simply cut for time while other times things happen while the cameras aren’t rolling. It’s just like when you go see the movie based on your favorite book, almost without exception, something gets left out. I thought posting the stories here on the website would be a great supplement to the videos to really give them more context.

Where are the stories?
At the time of this post, Kristen and I have only taken one overnight trip so far this year but it was a month ago and I still haven’t finished the write up. I did take notes and have all the detail I want to put into the story but just haven’t had time to finish it. In just a couple of weeks we’ll be going on a 2,000+ mile trip to the southern part of the U.S. and in less than 2 months we’ll be traveling over 6,000 miles out to the West Coast and back. Between working a full-time job, running my YouTube channel, keeping all the bikes running, Noah racing ECEA, and dozens of other things going on right now, the travel stories aren’t likely to make an appearance anytime soon. I don’t want to put out a subpar product and writing takes (me) a lot of time.

Are you going to write a book or not??
Yes. I’m actually going to write two; the guide/instruction-type book I mentioned earlier and a book of my motorcycle travels from 2017.

When will they come out?
I anticipate the guide/instruction-type book will be out later this year as I already have about 40-50% of it written. I’m guessing it’s only going to be around 12,000 words and I’ll likely release it as a Kindle-only download.
The book of travel stories likely won’t see the light of day until the first quarter of 2018. I made a cognizant effort to take photos (not just video) on this last trip so I have plenty of great pictures to share in the book and will continue to do so on the rest of my travels this year as well. While it’s tough to say how long the book will end up being, I would estimate it will be at least 50,000 words (Motorcyclist’s Guide To Travel was about 40,000).

Conclusion
I wrote this post for 2 reasons:
1) If a handful of people had the question about me writing a book of travel stories, I figure there are many more than had the same question but just didn’t ask.
2) Now that I’ve declared I’m going to do this, I want you guys to hold me accountable.
But in the meantime, I gotta get busy editing Thursday’s video!! 
