Ten Day Motorcycle Trip

So from August 27 to September 5 we rode a total of 4,794 miles across the United States. I promise I will do a traditional blog posting(s) about the trip but in the meantime enjoy this video from day one. There will be more videos posted (hopefully every few days) so if you like this one, please subscribe.

Spruce Knob Part 2

FJR1300 Spruce Knob

Back on June 28th, I attempted to ride to the top of Spruce Knob…I failed. On August 17th, I attempted again…more on that later. So a few nights before Kristen and I were watching Long Way Round and the guys were touring a coal mine so we thought it would be cool to tour a coal mine as well. The closest I new of was in Beckley, WV. I began to map out the ride but then we kinda decided

Yuengling Brewery

Saturday, August 8, 2015 We took off from Martinsburg, WV around 7:30am and decided to take Rt 11 North with our destination being Pottsville, PA. Getting through West Virginia and Maryland doesn’t take much time though the city of Hagerstown will slow you down a bit. Once we got into Pennsylvania we saw a couple of Mennonites riding their bicycles as well as a couple of older gentleman riding in a horse drawn carriage. Kristen was on the FJR with

New England

Niagara Falls Rainbow

My goals for this trip were to visit all of the New England states while touring Ben & Jerry’s Factory, seeing Niagara Falls and maybe eating some Mystic Pizza. How did I do? Read on to find out. Thursday, July 2, 2015 Until Wednesday afternoon, I’d assumed this trip would be Kristen and I on the FJR and Brad on his new CBR 650 but then Thad called and said he’d be making the trip. The plan was originally to

Spruce Knob

Spruce Knob

Sunday, June 28, 2015 I took off Sunday morning around 11:00am and headed to Spruce Knob, the highest point in West Virginia at 4,862 feet. When I left my house it was about 72 degrees and partly sunny. I took I81 South to 37 and then headed west on Route 50.  After 11  miles, I hopped on 259 S to Wardensville.  From Wardensville, I then took US-48 W to Moorefield where I stopped to fill up at Sheetz. I then

Blackwater Falls and Seneca Rocks

I woke up Saturday morning around 9:00am after a long night of driving. I didn’t get in until nearly 2:00am. Thad gave me a call and said he wanted to go riding. It was calling for sunshine and mid-80s so I wasn’t going to say no. Unfortunately, (for Thad) he realized he had too much to do and couldn’t find the time (It’s ok. We rode the next day). Once Thad bailed, Kristen and I rode to Ride on Moto

Labor Day Weekend 2014

Deal's Gap Yamaha FJR1300

I know I stated in my last post that I try not to make a habit out of traveling on holiday weekends but…it happened again. This time Kristen and I left Thad at home (seriously, who would rather attend TWO weddings than go riding??) and took off on a 5 day trip. Day One (Thursday, August 28th) After getting some breakfast at the Clearbrook Shopping Center, we rode up to Moorefield, WV and got on Rt 220 South taking it

Jim Beam Distillery

Jim Beam Barn

Day One While I’m not normally a big fan of planning rides over holiday weekends, that’s just the way it worked out for our trip to the Jim Beam Distillery. We left the morning of July 4th from my house in Bunker Hill, WV and started to head west toward Moorefield, WV. I was riding my FJR with my girlfriend, Kristen on the back while my buddy, Thad was riding a 2002 Kawasaki ZR-7S. We rode out the newer section
